Giro ski helmets outlet – MIPS and Spherical protection

Giro Sport Design was founded in 1985 in Santa Cruz (California) and grew from the bicycle helmet industry to become the global market leader in winter helmets. Giro has also been making ski and snowboard helmets since 1995, and models such as the Neo, Taggert and Owen have been at the top in almost every ski test for years.

Giro's main selling point is its extensive security stack. Almost all Giro ski helmets in our outlet are equipped with MIPS - a Swedish rotational protection that slides during oblique impacts. The premium models also use Giro's own Spherical Technology: a "helmet-in-helmet" construction that provides even more absorption during corner impacts. Below you will find what you can expect in our Giro outlet - all new, unused and CE EN 1077 certified.

Giro outlet – MIPS ski helmets & goggles

Taggert, Neo, Owen Spherical, Ledge – up to 50% discount

What does Giro sell in our outlet?

All-mountain ski helmets (Taggert, Neo, Avera)

The Taggert MIPS and Neo MIPS are the all-round choices for recreational ski/snowboard – good cushioning, comfortable fit and MIPS rotational protection. Avera is the women's version.

Premium Spherical helmets (Owen)

The Owen Spherical has two EPS shells next to each other — not just one MIPS layer. During rotational impacts, the shells slide relative to each other. Most comprehensive safety in Giro's line-up.

Freestyle/park helmets (Ledge FS)

The Ledge FS has the classic skate style with hard shell and in-mold liner. Lighter and more compact than the all-mountain models, ideal for park & freestyle.

Children's helmets (Trigger, Ringo)

Trigger MIPS and Ringo are junior helmets with MIPS protection, adapted fit (smaller child's head size) and light materials. With matching color design.

Giro technology: what do they stand for?

Giro has been investing in helmet and goggle R&D for 40 years. These are the technologies you will find in our outlet helmets.

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System)

A thin plastic layer between the outer shell and the foam padding that can slide ~10-15 mm. During an oblique impact, the helmet rotates relative to the head – which reduces rotational forces on the brain. In almost all Giro helmets.

Spherical Technology

Giro's own "helmet-in-helmet" system: two different EPS shells that lie against each other on a MIPS layer. When rotated they slide relative to each other; In the event of direct impact, each shell dampens separately. Premium feature in Owen, Grid, Avance.

In-Mold Construction

Construction in which the outer polycarbonate shell is molded directly with the EPS foam filling. Lighter and with more ventilation openings possible. Standard on the lighter models (Neo, Avera).

Hard Shell Construction

Separate hard shell over an EPS liner. Stiffer and more impact resistant, classic skate look. Located at Ledge FS, Owen, Trig.

Stack Vent / Thermostat Control

Adjustable ventilation openings at the top of the helmet. Open for warm weather, closed for cold. By positioning they work together with the goggle vent for anti-fog.

In Form 2 Fit System

Adjustment system at the back can be operated with one hand. Snaps into place and stays there while driving. Compatible with ponytails via Auto Loc 2.

Frequently asked questions about Giro

Is Giro a good brand for ski helmets?

Yes. Giro has been active in winter sports since 1995 and has been placed in the top 3 by consumer association-like ski tests for years. The brand is known for the most extensive safety technology (MIPS and Spherical), good fit systems and compatibility with most ski goggle brands. In addition, Giro is CE EN 1077 and ASTM F2040 certified.

What is the difference between MIPS and Spherical at Giro?

MIPS is an industry standard: a thin plastic layer that slides on oblique impacts to reduce brain rotation. Spherical is Giro's own evolution: two complete EPS scales on a MIPS layer, which can rotate relative to each other. Spherical is more expensive and present in premium models (Owen, Grid, Avance). For recreational use, MIPS is fine; Spherical offers extra security for those who regularly drive at high speeds or fall.

Which Giro ski helmet suits me?

All-round recreational: Taggert MIPS (men) or Avera (women). Premium safety: Owen Spherical. Park & freestyle: Ledge FS. Child: Trigger MIPS (with MIPS) or Ringo (more accessible). At speed and with a racing driving style: a Spherical model such as Owen or Avance is wise.

How do I measure my helmet size?

Measure the circumference of your head with a measuring tape, just above your ears and eyebrows – that is the horizontal circle. Giro uses: S = 52-55.5 cm, M = 55.5-59 cm, L = 59-62.5 cm, XL = 62.5-65 cm. Intermediate size? Choose the smaller one – the helmet will stretch slightly with use and should fit securely (but not compressively).

Do my ski goggles fit the Giro helmet?

Giro helmets are designed to work with most major ski goggle brands (Anon, Smith, Oakley, Dragon, Giro itself, etc.). If in doubt: send us your goggle model and we will check compatibility. With Giro's own goggles (Contour, Method, Axis) the fit is of course perfect.

Are the Giro helmets in your outlet new?

Yes. All Giro helmets are 100% new, unused, in original packaging with CE tag. Previous seasonal models or selected lots – no second hand. Warranty according to Giro's own warranty period (the helmets are intended to be replaced after a major fall - not reused).
